Anthropocene Reviewed is a collection of essays about the human-made, Anthropocene, in which John Green, the author, reviews each topics he chooses to write. He writes argumentative and persuasive essays showing different structures and flows on how to convey his thoughts and claims throughout each one. Anthropocene Reviewed shares varieties of perspectives on human-made, persuading us the distinct point in which we may have never thought of.

As the author share his thoughts, it becomes evident that the knowledge and experiences he accumulated throughout his lifetime and also his books and youtube channel, had been beneficial and took part in his reviews and ratings. Each topic had a specific audience that he wanted his thoughts to reach. For ‘The Yips’, it may have been sport athletes who had experienced emotional pain during their season. With this, this reviews show how each one may fit the audience or not, depending on their personal experiences. He compiles science, psychology, sports, real life, and much more in this collection of writing, conveying his ideas on different genres. Not only his thoughts and claim, he also presents advices and recommendations, such as ‘Harvey’ in which he centered the essay on his anecdote and shared that people who are going through emotionally hard time, they should watch the movie Harvey so that they could hear the line that helped him get through his depression. It also could be seen that he uses different structure in argument to fit the topic and message that he intends to convey. In few essays, he focuses on his anecdote and common ground with his audience, while others, he uses the reason and claim order to persuade and help them understand the reason why he rated such object in the way he did.

Anthropocene Reviewed is a compilation of persuasive writing about the reviews on human-made of John Green, the author of famous books such as Looking for Alaska and Our Faults in Our Stars. The author conveys different point of views on topics of anthropocene. Not only he tries to persuade his audiences, he also gives advices to try one of our human-made. He presents his ideas and tries to persuade us to have a different perspectives of our daily encounters to different anthropocenes.
