Analysis:
The author shows an unique personality and perspective through the eyes and mind of a boy with autism. He feels and thinks differently and we could see that he loves math and he is very interested. Throughout the story, Christopher talks about his ways of thinking and doing math to calm himself. He showed that it was the base of his life. He also showed passion for dogs as he goes on investigating on Wellington, despite the police officers and Mrs. Shears accused him and told him to stop. He also showed irresponsibility yet responsibility through his actions such as going to find his mom in London, and leaving home. He also couldn’t forgive his dad for killing the dog, which suggests that he cares more about the dog than his dad. The author shows messed-up relationships between his parents as his mom cheated on with Mr. Shears while dad goes off killing a dog. Through his actions and thoughts, it can be inferred that Christopher is courageous, overthinking, intelligent fifteen-year-old. It can also be inferred that Christopher is nonchalant overall because he didn’t seem to mind, living with only his dad, not his mom. He doesn’t let anything make him overthink and make his life more complicated than it already is for him.
