Introduction:
Animal Farm is a novel written by George Orwell. It is a book about farm animals rebelling against the farm owner. It is an animal fable published in 1945. George Orwell is the author of 1984, a dystopian novel. It is considered one of the best English novels of all time.

Plot:
On Manor Farm, the animals are mistreated by the irresponsible farmer, Mr. Jones. Old Major, a wise boar, inspires them to rebel against humans. After Old Major’s death, two pigs named Snowball and Napoleon take charge and kick out Mr. Jones. They renamed the farm “Animal Farm” and created the Seven Commandments, including “All animals are equal.” Snowball teaches the animals to read and write, while Napoleon trains puppies in Animalism. They raise a flag and the farm prospers. The pigs become leaders and keep special food for themselves. When Mr. Jones tries to retake the farm, Snowball plans to build a windmill, but Napoleon disagrees. They argue, and Napoleon’s dogs chase Snowball away. Napoleon becomes the leader of the farm. Napoleon changes the way things are run. He replaces meetings with a committee of pigs. He takes credit for Snowball’s idea. The animals work harder, hoping for an easier life with the windmill. When the windmill collapses in a storm, Napoleon blames Snowball and accuses the animals of helping him. Napoleon starts getting rid of animals he accuses of working with Snowball. He spreads lies about Snowball, saying he was a traitor. Napoleon even dismisses Snowball’s bravery during the Battle of the Cowshed. The animals’ song “Beasts of England” is changed to praise Napoleon. He conducts another purge, executing animals accused of plotting with Snowball. Despite their hardships, the animals believe they are better off with Napoleon than with Mr. Jones. They are comforted by the sheep repeating “Four legs good, two legs bad.” A neighboring farmer named Mr. Frederick attacks the farm and destroys the windmill. The animals win the battle, but many are hurt, including Boxer the workhorse. Boxer recovers but later collapses while working on the windmill. He is taken away in a van, and the animals are told it’s an animal hospital. But really, Napoleon sold Boxer to a knacker to get money for himself. The animals have a festival to honor Boxer, but the ideals Snowball talked about, like better living conditions, are forgotten. Napoleon wants the animals to live simple lives. Snowball and Boxer are mostly forgotten, except by a few who remember them. Many of the animals who rebelled have died or grown old. Mr. Jones, the old farmer, is also dead. The pigs start acting like humans such as walking upright, etc. They changed the Seven Commandments to say that some animals are more equal than others. The slogan “Four legs good, two legs bad” becomes “Four legs good, two legs better.” They change the farm’s flag and bury Old Major’s skull. Napoleon, the pig leader, has a dinner party with local farmers and they become allies. He gets rid of the revolutionary traditions and renames the farm “The Manor Farm” again. The pigs and farmers play cards and cheat while praising each other. They fight over cheating, and the animals outside can’t tell the difference between the pigs and the men anymore.

Analysis:
In the novel, there are a lot of animals that can be seen on farms. The pigs are the main species that appear a lot in the story. In the story, it said that the pigs were the smartest animals, and that was supported by them making plans and learning English. This mess was all started by Old Major. He was like a role model to every animal and inspired them to start a rebellion against humans. Also, during the story, you can see how Snowball and Napoleon were having a mental fight and Napoleon took the opportunity to “throw over” Snowball. This shows how Napoleon has a big ambition and desire to do anything if he puts his mind to it. Boxer is the one who has the kindest soul in the novel. He is loyal and trustworthy to Napoleon but Napoleon betrays him. Their moral was ‘four legs good, two legs bad.’ This was used when other animals were interrupting the meetings. Their Seven Commandments are like the Ten Commandments of Christianity. However, Napoleon switched some parts of the commandments so that he wouldn’t be found guilty. As time passed, the pigs started to become like humans.

Conclusion:
Animal is a classic novel by George Orwell, who is the author of 1984. This novel is about farm animals having rebellion against their farm owner. The pigs, the smartest on the farm, take the power of authority and lead the animals to become more like humans. Boxer, a horse, is the kindest and most loyal in the story. However, things didn’t go too well for him. But the real role model in this story should be Boxer and we all should try to live our lives like him.
