The Union Concert for Peace (Aug. 2024)

On August 10, 2024, I had a biannual concert in Incheon, South Korea. It was a memorable experience as we performed in an unfamiliar place with other orchestras. The moment I went on stage and saw the number of people in the seats, I was surprised. I wouldn’t usually get nervous in orchestra concerts but this time I did have the desire. I think it’s mainly because I wanted our orchestra to have a better performance than the other two orchestras that performed before us. I also was nervous because it was one of the hardest pieces I’ve ever played with confusing rhythms, high notes and octaves, and various dynamics and phrasings. It was also the first time I performed as a first violin. The feeling I had was a mix of nervousness and exhilaration.

Even though I had messed up several times, I think it was an unforgettable experience. Despite having less time to play than our usual concert at Seongnam Arts Center, it was a significant time for all of the orchestra members to show our talent to others, not just to our family. I think it also was unforgettable, especially because I had put much time and effort into practicing and making it perfect. The concert was like an ending for all the effort I put into it. I was satisfied with our performance and was proud of finishing the concert well
